The Nigeria Earthcare Solid Waste Composting Project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by diverting solid waste, which would normally go to landfills in the city of Lagos, to a state-of-the-art composting facility. This reduces the amount of waste disposed in Lagos’ landfills by 10-20%.

The project is the first composting activity in Nigeria to be registered with the CDM. The project is undertaking its first verification and it is expected to have about 30,000 carbon credits issued by the end of 2015.

Nigeria: Earth Care Nigeria Brings Relief to Local Farmers

Local farmers in Lagos and its environ may no longer have to wander far to get fertilizers to improve their yields. This is as a result of the activity of Earth Care Nigeria Limited, which has been converting municipal waste to fertilizer within the Lagos metropolis, and has the capacity to produce up to 200,000 tons of organic fertilizer per year.
